New Delhi: The total number of Covid cases in India rose by 556 in one day to 4,466,8523, while active cases fell by 252 to 6,782 in the same period, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.
The 8am update showed the death toll had climbed to 5,30,570 with 17 more fatalities, 15 of which were checked by Kerala.
The number of recoveries surged to 4,41,31,171, and the case fatality rate was 1.19%. Active cases account for 0.02% of the total number of infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.79%.
According to the Ministry of Health’s website, the country has so far administered 2,198.5 million doses of the Covid vaccine in the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
India’s COVID-19 count crossed the 2 million mark on 7 August 2020, 3 million on 23 August, 4 million on 5 September and 5 million on 16 September. It exceeded 6 million on September 28, 7 million on October 11, 8 million on October 29, 9 million on November 20, and 1 million on December 19.
India passed the grim milestone of 20 million on May 4, 30 million on June 23 last year and 40 million on January 25 this year.
