New Delhi: India recorded 656 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, while active cases fell from 14,493 to 13,037.
The daily positivity rate on Tuesday was 0.56% over the past 24 hours, according to data shared by the government’s health department.
According to the announcement, a total of 1,166,603 tests were performed in the past 24 hours, out of a total of 928,700 tests performed so far.

In addition, a total of 220.66 million vaccine doses (95.21 million second doses and 22.87 million preventive doses) have been administered so far under the national vaccination program.
Meanwhile, India on Monday reported 801 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the Union health minister said.
Active cases fell to 14,493 on Monday from 15,515 reported on Sunday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported yesterday.
The country reported 1,815 recoveries on Monday. This brings the total recoveries of Covid to 4,44,35,204. The Federal Ministry of Health announced that the number of active cases accounted for 0.03% of the total number of reported cases.
The announcement from the United Health Ministry said 55,636 covid tests were carried out on Monday, bringing the total number of tests conducted in the country to 928.6 crore.
A total of 220.66 million vaccine doses (95.21 million second doses and 22.87 million preventive doses) have been administered so far in the national vaccination campaign, with 367 doses administered on Monday.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared the COVID-19 pandemic over as a global health emergency.
However, Dr Rakesh Mishra, director of the Tata Institute of Genetics and Society (TIGS), said on May 8 that viral load and the emergence of any new variants still need to be monitored.
