Small towns in Italy have been experimenting with creative ways to attract tourists and get them to move to their towns, make them residents and increase their populations.
From selling houses for just €1 (Rs. 85) to offering deals for visitors. Presicce, a pretty town in southeastern Italy with around 10,500 inhabitants, recently launched a campaign called “Welcome to Presicce-Acquarica”.
The campaign promises to give $30,000 (over Rs. 24,00,000) to anyone who buys a house and registers it in the town. Houses in the town are priced at around Rs 2.1 lakh and are for sale. The homes have been abandoned by their previous owners, leading to the homes being sold to attract more tourists.
This offer makes it considerable since the town of Presicce-Acquarica in Presicce and Acquarica del Capo has been designated as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy for its architecture and historical nobility.
Presicce is often called the “City of Green Gold” because of the extra virgin olive oil it produces from its olive trees.
Recently, Sardinia launched a similar campaign to attract new residents for about 1.2 million rupees.
