Bangalore: A man has been arrested for killing his bedridden wife who was paralyzed in Bengaluru for the past two years, police said on Tuesday.
The arrested person was identified as Shankarappa (60 years old), a resident of Turahalli, a suburb of Bengaluru.
According to the police, Shivamma (50) has been paralyzed in bed for the past two years. She is unable to move her legs and needs round-the-clock care.
The defendant, Shankarappa, worked as a keeper for a year in a building under construction. He lives there with his wife and two children. Police said Shangarapa was frustrated with his wife’s plight and was unwilling to care for her.
At noon Sunday, the defendant lifted his wife, threw her into a 9-foot-deep water-filled puddle, and killed her. When the couple’s 11-year-old son returned home, he saw his mother’s body in the sinkhole.
He rushed to a nearby garage for their help. Subsequently, the police were also notified and sent the body for an autopsy. Sources said Talaghattapura police took the man into custody and upon questioning he confessed to the offence.
Further investigation is ongoing.
