Hyderabad: Former MP and BJP leader Konda Vishweshwar Reddy came under fire on Thursday for humiliating Swamy Simhayajulu, Swami Si Swamy Simhayajulu is one of the accused in the BJP’s covert operation to buy four TRS MLAs and hurt religious sentiments.
The lawmaker has also come under fire for his party’s double standards in politicizing religious sentiment for political mileage.
On Thursday, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy tweeted: “Is that fat cow Swamiji or the actor used by TRS? Did you see his waistline?” Interestingly, he was responding to a tweet shared on Twitter. An image in which Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is seen sharing this photo with Swamy Simhayajulu until then widely shared by TRS (BRS) activists pointing out the links with the BJP top leadership person’s defendant.
Twitterati reacted strongly to the former MP’s comments, questioning the BJP’s stance on Hinduism.
Twitter user Goldman Sachs tweeted: “Yesterday Bandy Sanjay said it was an insult to Hinduism, now Konda Vishwar Reddy is insulting Swamiji who brokered the deal. Does the BJP have a clear stance? Are they for or against? The fat man humiliating Hindu gurus is wow.”
“A troll disguised as an intellectual. Peel a layer and the rot comes out,” said another Twitter user VSR.
Numerous others also cited the former MP’s tweet, stating that body-shaming Swami, no matter who he is or his political affiliation, is unnecessary.
