Kota Gooden: In view of the upcoming parliamentary elections, the Regional Administration has been working on updating the voter rolls and SVEEP activities.
Regional election official and collector Anudeep Durishetty informed that efforts are underway to prepare an unmistakable voter list and that political parties are required to cooperate with the regional administration.
He held meetings with representatives of the central political parties on changes to polling centers, removal and change of voter addresses, photo lookalike entries, verification of citizens’ submitted Forms 6, 7 and 8, and registration of young voters.
Parties must designate booth agents at all polling centers in the area and submit the lists to collectors. Meetings with political party representatives will be held at IDOC every Tuesday to prepare voter rolls without disenfranchising any eligible voters.
Of the 18,438 photo-like entries received, 508 were removed, 38 of them died and 92 were relocated to other polling places. Of the 378 erroneous voter registrations, 150 were registered as voters and 228 were entitled to vote. Form 6 will be issued to register these 228 persons as voters.
During the period from January 5, 2022 to January 5, 2023, 30,534 voters were deleted from the voter list, of which 26,908 were verified, 1,139 were wrong, Form 6 The collector said that these votes will be issued to get all of them people register as voters.
He said 6. 346 voters had been transferred from one polling center to another and after investigation of the voter list by tahsildar and deputy tahsildar it was determined that 52 out of 4273 voters were registered as voters.
In response to a proposal from delegates to replace dilapidated polling centres, the Commissioner asked them to provide details and submit their proposals to the Electoral Commission.
Collectors inspected the EVM warehouse at RDO’s premises on Wednesday. He informed that the first phase of inspections of voting and control units will be completed on June 1. He told officials to take steps to build a fence around the warehouse.
