Kota Gooden: Ch Srinivas Rao Ch Kruthika, daughter of slain FRO Ch Srinivas Rao Ch Kruthika, showed exemplary courage and mental strength when she won two medals at the district junior athletics championships here on Friday, which is 100 meters away. It was only three days since my father died.
She came into the spotlight not only because she was the daughter of FRO who gave her life to protect the forest, but also because of the courage and determination she showed in fulfilling her promise to her father.
Kruthika, studying sixth standard at a private school here, won gold in the long jump and silver in the under-10 50m sprint at the Bhadradri Kothagudem District Athletic Association championships at Professor Jayashankar’s grounds in Kothagudem.
The association’s district coach P Nagender told Telangana Today on Sunday that she will be participating in the state junior athletics championships at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on December 5-6.
Not long after winning the medal, she thought of her father, and all those who watched her performance were moved and tried hard to hold back the tears that welled up in their eyes. “Dad told me to win gold in competitions and he always encouraged me to excel in athletics,” she told the outlet.
She further said that her father used to train her and took her to practice at the Prakasam stadium in the town every day. “Because of my dad’s encouragement, I won the medal and I dedicate it to my dad,” she said.
Despite her sad state, Kruthika has performed well in both competitions she has competed in and she has a bright future in athletics, the coach said, hoping she will do well in the state championships as well.
