Hyderabad: The Magistrates Court in LB Nagar on Friday sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for the rape of an underage girl reported by Meerpet in 2016. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the offender and awarded Rs 3 in compensation. 100,000 to the victim.
In June 2016, A Prabhakar (23), a labor criminal from Chandampet, Nalgonda district, seduced the 16-year-old girl under the guise of love and eloped with her. He secretly married her and sexually assaulted her without her consent.
Following a complaint from the girl’s father, Meerpet police opened a case and subsequently arrested Prabhakar.
Rachakonda Police Chief DS Schauhan applauded the efforts of investigators and teams to secure a conviction in the case.
