adilabad: Members of the Mesram clan performed special prayers in the Keslapur village of the Indervelli mandal on Monday to kick off the week-long inauguration of the renovated Sri Nagoba temple.
Priests living in different parts of the former Adilabad district arrived at the holy place and participated in the ceremony to mark the start of the inauguration of the holy place. They worship Navagrahas with the support of Mesram Venkat Rao who traditionally organizes clan ceremonies in the morning.
They participated in bhajans presented by troupes from Keslapur, Pipri, Rajampet, Ginnera villages and spiritual talks given by Kodapa Vinayak Rao Maharaj from 7pm to 9pm. The main inauguration of the temple will take place on Sunday.
Concerned about the influx of devotees, the Mesrams began renovations to the ancient Sri Nagoba temple in stages in 2018. They hired sculptor Talari Ramesh from Allagadda in the Nandyal district of Andhra Pradesh to recreate the religious site. They raised Rs 5 million through donations from clan members. Likewise, the state government allocated 60 million for various structures in the temple complex.
