New Delhi: In a “doxxing” spat with reporters, Elon Musk said Sunday that Twitter users will soon see multiple algorithms that guide what kind of tweets they want to see on their home page’s timeline.
“There will be multiple algorithms, including no algorithm (i.e. just tweets from people you follow in chronological order),” Musk told a follower who asked about implementing a social credit system on Twitter.
According to his Twitter friend Pranay Pathole from Pune, users can choose from three different algorithms.
“Homepage” — the default Twitter algorithm suggested content, which will recommend tweets based on user activity; chronological or newest tweets; and tweets from people you follow,” he posted.
Currently, your home timeline displays a stream of tweets from the accounts you choose to follow on Twitter. You may see suggested content powered by various signals. You can reply, retweet, or like tweets from your Page.
Twitter is testing a feature this year that shows users custom timelines built by developers that combine tweets and other media around specific topics or interests based on content pulled from accounts, hashtags and more .
In March, Twitter rolled back an update that removed the default chronological access timeline option after facing criticism from users.
“We hear you – some of you always want to see the latest tweets first. We’ve switched the timeline back and temporarily removed the tabbed experience while we explore other options,” the company said.
