Rajana-Sisera: TS Planning Committee Deputy Chairman B Vinod Kumar stressed the need to overhaul India’s electoral process in order to provide a better electoral system for future generations.
Narendra Modi represented the BJP as prime minister, which received only 32 percent of the vote. Although more than 60 percent rejected the BJP, it still formed a government in the center. Therefore, changes to the electoral process are necessary.
In other countries, candidates for political parties would be selected based on votes in favour of a particular party in elections, he informed and hoped to implement a similar system in that country.
India should also elect public representatives based on votes cast for political parties. In this regard, he believes that there should also be a broad national debate, and hopes that intellectuals will think about it.
