Hyderabad: Parents at the BSD DAV public school in Bangara Hills are urging the state government to reopen the school, but manage it differently, to keep students’ academics in the spotlight.
Following the government’s decision to strip the school of recognition for the principal driver’s sexual assault of a four-year-old girl on the school premises, parents say they have three options – a transfer, a full refund of fees paid and a change in management and staff.
According to parents, only one CBSE-affiliated school is one of their five options for transferring wards.
“Among the five options, there is a CBSE-affiliated school, but it charges Rs 2.2 lakh per year, which not all parents can afford. We are equally distressed by this incident. As it is the middle of the school year, we hope that the government Schools will be reopened but management and staff will be different. Parents plan to meet Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy on this issue on Wednesday,” one parent said.
