Warangal: With Jangaon DCC chairman Janga Raghava Reddy’s latest announcement that she will contest the Warangal West Assembly constituency in the next general election, the struggle within the Congress party has resurfaced. These comments, made in the padaytra of Division 63 under GWMC restrictions on Tuesday, present an open challenge to Hanamkonda DCC chairman Naini Rajendar Reddy, who is keen to run in the general election in Warangal West.
It may be recalled here that last April, during a public meeting of AICC leader Rahul Gandhi, followers of Rajender and Raghava were almost in Khanamkong. There was a clash at the grounds of the Academy of Arts in Subedari, Hanamkonda. It follows months of internal squabbling among congressional leaders. Rajender Reddy is furious at Raghava Reddy’s public statement that he will contest from Warangal West constituency instead of Palakurthy constituency.
Then, this issue was even discussed last year by the party’s top leaders and the Commission for Discipline Inspection. Based on Rajender’s complaint, TPCC also sought clarification from Raghava on this issue. Apparently the “warning” failed to deter him as he was ready to contest in the Warangal West constituency. Raghava, who contested from the Palakurthy parliamentary constituency in the last general election, was defeated by Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
Responding to Raghava’s new comments, Rajender said Raghava has no right to conduct padayatra within Hanamkonda district as he is the party chairman of Jangaon district. “He is conducting pilgrimage in Hanamkonda district despite the disciplinary committee notifying anyone not to organize meetings or pilgrimage in other districts without permission. This is not true. He is trying to encourage bloc politics within the party and ruin the party. I demand The party high command immediately suspended Raghava Reddy from the party,” Rajend said.
