Hyderabad: Evidence is mounting that the BJP is linked to the three accused in the MLA poaching case, with police filings in court showing that the main accused, Ramachandra Bharati, was in contact with BJP’s Telangana chief, Sunil Bansal.
Bansal’s contact in the form of a text message sent by Ramachandra Bharati on September 26 from his mobile phone to a number kept in the name of Sunil Kumar Bansal (9455114069) indicates that he needs to talk about important matters about Telangana and ask him to suggest some time .
In another text message to BL Santosh, whose name was saved as Santosh BJP, Ramachandra Bharati claimed that 25 current MLAs were ready to join, with 40 planned.
Another revelation in the document is the involvement of Tushar Vellappally, kept under the name Tushar Vellappally Kerala SNDP (9388881111). Tushar is the leader of Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS), ran as an NDA candidate in Wayanad against Congress President Rahul Gandhi and is the state convenor of the Kerala NDA. Thurhar’s name was repeated in an audio clip that appeared earlier in the day.
The documents also detail how the whole affair unfolded after the accused called Tandur MLA pilot Rohit Reddy from September 26 and offered to pay him Rs 100 crore and 500 crore for each MLA transferred from TRS to BJP After Rupee. They also said that if he didn’t accept the offer, he could face raids from the ED, CBI, and Rohit Reddy’s decision to ensnare them to record their meeting. He shared information with three other MLAs.
Rohit Reddy lodged a complaint with Rajendranagar Police on Wednesday, after which four surveillance cameras and two tape recorders were deployed. Two cameras were installed in the farmhouse’s hall, while two recorders were placed in Rohit Reddy’s kurta.
The cameras turned on at 3.5pm and recorded what happened when Rohit Reddy entered the hall with the accused at 3.10pm. Three other crew members arrived at the scene an hour later.
Earlier, Rohit Reddy was asked to signal by ordering coconut water (Nariyal Paani Leke Avo) at the end of the session. Three and a half hours into the meeting, as he sought family help for “Nariyal Paani”, police entered the scene.
Police said the three accused remained silent when asked about the purpose of the visit. Police then confiscated pre-arranged electronic espionage equipment and two tape recorders from Rohit Reddy from the hall, which recorded the entire conversation, including bribes of Rs 500 crore to each MLA and Ramachandra Bharathi saying they had been in Karnataka. State, Derry and other states “defected in a similar fashion”. The tape recorder also revealed calls to Tushar and Santosh.
