Hyderabad: With women voters playing a larger role than ever in elections, and their votes having a huge impact on election results, all major parties are focusing their attention on this precious group of voters, not Munugode opinion polls.
With just one day left until the end of the campaign, TRS, BJP and Congress leaders are focusing on women voters. All three party leaders are working hard to meet every female voter in their constituency and convince them to support their respective party candidates.
According to the final voter roll released by the Election Commission, the total number of eligible voters in the Munugod parliamentary constituency was 2,38,759, compared to 2,14,847 on 12 October 2018. About 1,20,126 of them were female voters. With women making up 50% of the electorate, all political parties have deployed female faction leaders in Munugode to persuade them to vote for their respective candidates.
TRS has ministers Sabita Indra Reddy and Satyavathi Rathod and Mayor G Vijaya Lakshmi of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) campaigning for party candidate K Prabhakar Reddy. Several other TRS women leaders are also campaigning to educate women about state government welfare programs and initiatives, with a particular focus on those that prioritize women.
Congressional candidate Palvai Sravanthi has focused more on female voters from the start of her campaign. Mulugu Congress MLA Danasari Anasuya, better known as Seethakka, has been wooed specifically to win over female voters. She was seen asking female voters, especially tribal women, to support Congressional candidate Slavanti during her constituency door-to-door campaign.
Komatireddy Laxmi, wife of BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, also focused on female voters during the campaign and sought support for her husband. Likewise, BJP female faction leaders were entrusted with various promises to attract female voters.
