Hyderabad: Three suspects in the MLA poaching case were questioned by Telangana Special Investigation Team (SIT) officers for the second consecutive day on Friday. The SIT team has collected voice samples of the suspect and is likely to seek permission from the court to allow police to detain the suspect.
On Friday, SIT officers detained three suspects, Ramachandra Bharti, Simhayaji and Nanda Kumar, from Chanchalguda Central Jail and brought them to Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory (TSFSL) in Nampally to collect voice samples.
At least six variants of speech modulation were collected from each of them. Officials will compare them to audio and video speech recorded during conversations with MLAs. The FSL report, which is expected to be released within three months, is crucial to the case.
The three suspects were then transferred to the Rajendra Nagar ACP office after voice samples were collected. It is understood that the officers who detained the suspect on Thursday morning, with the permission of the ACB Special Court, asked the suspect about 42 questions.
The SIT led by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand has expedited its investigation into the MLA poaching case and is investigating the case in depth.
The questions were raised separately in the morning and collectively in the afternoon, the source said. Each of them addressed at least 17 of these questions differently. The police team had sought more clarification from the suspect on Friday.
After the detention was completed, they were brought before a magistrate and transferred to Chanchalguda Prison, where they were placed on judicial remand. SIT is expected to seek leave from the court to give them more time for questioning.
