Hyderabad: Three defendants involved in the MLA poaching case were questioned here by the Telangana Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday.
Police detained the accused from Chanchalguda Prison on high security and took them to Rajendranagar Police Station in the suburbs.
Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma, priest from Faridabad, Haryana, Simhayaji, Pope from Tirupati and Nandakumar, owner of a restaurant in Hyderabad, for allegedly trying to lure four MLAs from ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after being questioned over the sensational case.
Investigators reportedly questioned the defendants individually and recorded their statements in the presence of their lawyers.
SIT is focused on obtaining additional information from defendants based on their conversations with TRS priorities.
The accused is being questioned a day after the state government set up the SIT to investigate the case after the Telangana High Court lifted its moratorium.
SIT is led by Hyderabad Police Chief CV Anand. Six other police officers are members of the team.
Three accused, allegedly BJP agents, were arrested at a farmhouse in Moinabad, near Hyderabad, on the night of October 26, when they allegedly tried to lure four TRS MLAs with huge sums of money.
Cyberabad police conducted the raid based on a tip-off from pilot Rohit Reddy, one of the priorities. He claimed that the accused offered him Rs 100 crore and three others Rs 500 crore.
The accused was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
