Dimple Yadav, the wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, is believed to have won the polls in the constituency, thereby inheriting the estate of her father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Etawa: Samajwadi party leader Dimple Yadav will submit his nomination on Monday for election in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
Dimple Yadav, wife of SP chairman Akhilesh Yadav, is believed to have inherited her father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav’s estate in the constituency by winning the vote in the constituency.
The Mainpuri seat, considered a Samajwadi party stronghold, became vacant on October 10 following the death of Samajwadi party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Before her nomination was submitted, party staff and leaders visited the Safai residence in Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, party veteran Ram Gopal and other leaders including Dharmendra Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav will be present when Dimple Yadav submits his nomination, Mainpuri’s SP district chairman Alok Shakya said on Sunday.
Sakya said the Yadav family will first arrive at the Mainpuri party office and then the collector’s office for nomination.
Voting for the by-election will be held on December 5 and counting will take place on December 8, coinciding with the results dates for the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.
The last date to submit nominations is November 17 and the nomination review date is November 18. Candidates have until November 21 to withdraw their candidacy.
