Hyderabad: Telangana BC Council Chairman V Krishnamohan Rao has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review and consider the need for a cap of Rs 1.5 lakh for OBC cream layers.
In a letter to the Prime Minister on Monday, Krishnamohan Rao said that the issue of Creamy Layer (revenue of Rs 8 lakh) fixed in 2017 is due in 2021.
In 2015, the National Council for the Backward Classes recommended capping the income cap at Rs 1.5 lakh to determine the cream tier in the OBC. However, he said, this was not taken into account.
The OBC Creamy Layer policy, which must be reviewed every three years, expires in 2020 and ends in 2023. Krishnamohan Rao said OBC became restless due to the delay in determining the OBC cream layer.
