Hyderabad: The Reserve Bank of India on Saturday released the Statistical Booklet for the Indian states. The Reserve Bank of India stated that the Indian economy has shown extraordinary resilience to the multiple shocks it has encountered since the beginning of 2020, and has maintained the momentum of growth recovery while maintaining macro stability.
Telangana has also registered strong growth across all sectors. From GSDP to taxes, ease of doing business rankings, and even from rice production to rice acreage, the youngest nation in the country has written a success story amidst adversity.
Reflecting the success of the irrigation project and the revitalization of the Telangana water tanks, rice production exceeded 10 million tonnes in 2020-21. When the country was established in 2014-15, it was 4.44 million tonnes. Since then, it has increased to 6.26 million tons in 2017-18, 6.67 million tons in 2018-19 and 7.42 million tons in 2019-20. Rice planting area increased to 3.18 million hectares in 2020-21.
The GSDP in 2021-22 (at current prices) is Rs 114.8 trillion, up from Rs 5.05 trillion in 2014-15, an increase of 127%.
Telangana ranked third for ease of doing business in 2019. Ranked 2nd in 2017 and 1st in 2016. It was ranked 13th in 2015 and has remained at the top ever since, as evidenced by the constant influx of investors from around the globe.
The state’s own tax revenue in 2021-22 is Rs 9,291 crore (budget estimate). Rs 76,196 crore for 2020-21, according to revised estimates. Own tax revenue for 2014-15 was 292.88 crore. Non-tax revenue for 2021-22 (BE) is Rs 305.57 billion and non-tax revenue for 2020-21 (RE) is Rs 193.06 billion. Rs 64.47 billion in 2014-15.
Social sector expenditure at Rs 98.425 crore in 2021-22 (BE) and Rs 700.78 crore in 2020-21 (revised). Rs 24,434 crore in 2014-15.
In 2021, Telangana’s forest cover reached 21,214 sq km, up from 20,582 sq km in 2019 and 19,854 sq km in 2015.
Electricity available per capita increases from 1,152 kWh in 2014-14 to 2,005 kWh in 2021-22.
Available electricity in 2021-22 is 70.52 billion units, up from 49.95 billion units in 2016-17. Installed capacity in 2021-22 will reach 18,069 MW, almost double the 9,470 MW in 2014-15. The installed capacity of grid-connected interactive renewable energy increased from 91 MW in 2015 to 4,378 MW.
National highways increased from 2,687 kilometers in 2015 to 4,926 kilometers. As of March 2019, the mileage of national highways reached 2,149 kilometers.
The cold storage capacity in Telangana reached 411,000 tonnes. The Reserve Bank of India has reported that the gross value added of the country’s construction sector in 2021-22 will be Rs 39,202 crore, up from Rs 35,230 crore in 2020-21.
