Two-day workshop ‘Creating far-reaching impact through multidisciplinary collaboration’ kicks off at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology

Hyderabad: The two-day symposium “Creating Profound Impact through Multidisciplinary Collaboration (CPIMC-2022)” kicked off on Monday at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT).
The workshop is part of a joint collaboration between the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and the IICT in Australia. Guest-of-Honour, Professor Goverdhan Mehta from UoH, said in his speech that the link between RMIT and IICT must venture towards multi-institutional and transnational collaboration.
Professor Calum J Drummond, vice-chancellor of RMIT University in Australia, said that collaboration with industry is a core philosophy of RMIT, which is similar to the central theme of CSIR. “It’s essential that the research is done, but it has to go beyond and bring economic utility,” he said.
Professor Suresh K. Bhargava, chairman and dean of RMIT University, said at the meeting that the cooperation between the two institutes is based on mutual trust and mutual benefit. He also said efforts would be made to expand cooperation between Australia, India, Japan and the United States.
Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, Director and Program Convenor of CSIR-IICT, said: “IICT and RMIT have enjoyed a good partnership in terms of research and academic projects as well as cultural exchanges.
As part of the programme, we have made significant progress with 33 Indian studies scholars awarded PhDs, more students enrolled in the sandwich programme, 150 research papers published in international journals, presented in various conference proceedings Published 50 articles and obtained and filed some patents. “
Identifying new areas of research between institutes and visits by postdoctoral students and faculty could be future steps for international collaboration, he said.
Dr. S. Sridhar, Chief Scientist of CSIR-IICT, introduced the seminar overview, saying that this seminar is the second seminar held by CSIR-IICT, while the first seminar was held in 2018.
