Hyderabad: Is your food ordered in a restaurant or on the street? Over the years, there have been many instances of Hyderabadiites finding dead insects, cockroaches, houseflies and even mice in their dishes. While some were quick enough to alert officials, others were forced to leave moms wondering how to file a complaint.
Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has now made this easier with the launch of Food Safety on Wheels. These vehicles are equipped with the equipment needed to detect food adulteration on the spot. They will walk around the city checking the quality of the food.
Each mobile van will be staffed with FSO, lab technician, lab assistant and driver. The mobile labs, which can test more than 50 food categories, will perform simple tests to detect common adulterants in milk, water, cooking oil and other commonly consumed foods.
If citizens find that the food provided is unhygienic, they can call 040-21111111 to complain to the GHMC call center. Citizens can also complain to civic agencies for violations such as non-supply of clean water, spoiled food and use of prohibited plastic covers.
