Pedapari: A fire broke out at the SRR biscuit manufacturing plant near Rajiv Rahadari on the outskirts of Peddapalli mandal Appannapet on Wednesday night.
While the exact cause of the fire accident is unknown, a short circuit is suspected to have been the cause of the accident.
Locals and passers-by panicked as the flames spread like wildfire across the surrounding area. As the fire was so intense, fire officials deployed fire trucks from Peddapalli, Ramagundam and Manthani and were trying to extinguish the blaze when it was last reported.
Peddapalli ACP Sarangapani, CI Pradeep, Sis Rajesh (Peddapalli) and Srinivas (Basanthnagar) are at the scene and are monitoring the situation.
Ellandula Krishnamuthy, owner of SRR’s biscuit division, and his family were devastated as biscuits worth around Rs 1 crore were sold before Sankranti and turned into ashes.
