Hyderabad: Durgam Cheruvu has started offering training in a range of water sports for children, and the water school here has started kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and stand-up paddle boarding for children aged 8 and up.
These activities are in addition to sunset kayaking, and the facility offers recreational activities for those interested in water sports. In the next few days, events such as Kayakathan and Hydrathon are planned, in addition to the launch of the lifesaving certification program.
On Saturday night, in Duragam Cheruvu, I saw several children enthusiastically taking turns participating in different water sports, accompanied by their elders. When the weather is fine, the elders practice water sports with the children, and the tourists also cheer for the trainees.
While praising the water school’s facilities and safety measures, several parents also look to their children for expertise.
“Both of my kids are sailors and besides Hussain Sagar, expanding this facility to the west of the city is commendable. This facility will encourage more kids to take part in water sports and our city will produce more champions ,” said Anita Reddy of the floating school.
Meanwhile, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) officials who approved the Hyderabad Yacht Club’s expansion of its Durgam Cheruvu facility said they want Telangana to produce world champions in water sports.
“We want this water school in Durgam Cheruvu to serve as a nursery for future Asian and Olympic champions besides being a hub for all water sports,” said an official. and International 420 Boats. The official added that the skills learned here will be valuable in any body of water around the world.
