WhatsApp also rolls out its long-awaited ‘Communities’ feature
Hyderabad: WhatsApp has introduced a new privacy feature that allows you to hide your activity status while using the app. Although the feature was launched a few months ago, it is now available to all users on both the iOS and Android platforms.
While users were earlier able to turn off their “last seen” status — a feature that shows when a user was last active on an app — when using the instant messaging platform, everyone can see ” online status.
With the new online status hiding feature, users can now decide who can see their online status and chat with certain people without letting contacts know their activity status.

Here’s how to hide your online status on WhatsApp:
- Android and iOS users first need to update the WhatsApp app
- Open the WhatsApp app and go to the Settings menu
- Click on Account Settings and scroll down to Privacy Options
- Click last seen and online
- You can now choose “Who can see me online”
- Change the settings according to your requirements
At the same time, WhatsApp also launched its long-awaited “Communities” feature. In addition, the instant messaging platform has also introduced some group functions, including 32-person video calls, 1024-person group participants, etc. WhatsApp says these features will be rolled out in the coming months.
