Hyderabad: Lack of unity and coordination, attention shifted to Bharat Chodoyatra in Rahul Gandhi, infighting among leaders and poor campaigning are just many of the poor performance of Congress party in Munughod elections a small part of the reasons.
Although Munugode was a stronghold of Congress and sent Palvai Sravanthi, daughter of former Congress leader Palvai Govardhan Reddy, the party ended up third in the election.
Even after the announcement of the vote notice, the party’s senior leaders focused more on Bharat Jodo Yatra. As many as 13 committees were formed for Yatra, including coordination, reception, etc., indicating party priorities. Not only that, but TPCC chairman Revanth Reddy’s unilateral decision and comments on senior leaders have dented the party’s prospects even before the campaign began.
Furthermore, with the leader being taken over by Yatra, Palvai Sravanthi had to rely more on her father’s legacy and had to fend for herself.
Although some senior leaders like Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leaders Bhatti Vikramarka and Revanth Reddy have campaigned in the constituency, and a few leaders like Renuka Chowdhary and Geeta Reddy are occasionally present in the constituency, they cannot change such a statement : Bypoll is a race between the ruling TRS and the BJP, ditching the election.
