PRINCE RUPERT — The Prince Rupert RCMP have confirmed that 53-year-old Sharon Anne Trim, who was the subject of an intensive missing person search earlier today, has been located safe and sound.
The investigation began on the morning of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, after Trim was reported missing from her residence. She had last been seen on Tuesday, January 20. Given the cold winter conditions and the sudden nature of her disappearance, both her family and local authorities expressed significant concern for her well-being.
Rapid Community Response
Following a public appeal issued at approximately 6:40 a.m., the description of the 5’8″ Caucasian woman with a slim build and brown hair was widely circulated across social media and local news outlets.
By midday Wednesday, the RCMP issued a follow-up statement thanking the public and media partners for their assistance. “The Prince Rupert RCMP are pleased to confirm that the 53-year-old woman reported missing on January 20 has been located,” the detachment stated. “She is safe and no longer considered missing.”
A Focus on Community Safety
While this specific case reached a positive conclusion, the brief disappearance of Ms. Trim sparked a wider conversation among residents regarding the safety of vulnerable individuals in northern urban centers.
Prince Rupert, like many coastal communities, faces unique challenges during the winter months, including limited daylight and treacherous terrain. Local advocacy groups noted that the speed with which Ms. Trim was located is a testament to the “eyes on the street” approach often seen in close-knit northern communities.
The RCMP have not released further details regarding the circumstances of her disappearance, citing privacy for the individual and her family.
