THORNHILL, B.C. – On the Thornhill frontage road today, the classic sign of a northern summer—fresh jubilee corn for sale—is carrying a message of profound love and community support. A fundraiser is underway to help bring home Marleigh Marie, a brave Terrace toddler who has spent the last ten months fighting for her health at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Marleigh, a bright and beloved little girl, was diagnosed with a serious medical condition that required intensive, long-term care far from home. For ten months, she and her devoted mother, Elizabeth Clarice, have been in Vancouver navigating the difficult journey of treatments and hospital stays.

Now, as they prepare for the milestone of bringing Marleigh home, the community is wrapping its arms around them. A pop-up corn stand, organized by friend Melissa Beaulieu, is set up today by the Northern Motor Inn on the Thornhill frontage road. In a gesture of generosity, for every donation of over $10 towards Marleigh’s fund, supporters will receive three free ears of triple sweet jubilee corn.

The funds raised will help ease the immense financial burden the family has faced during their 10-month ordeal, covering costs from travel and accommodation to lost income and the ongoing needs for Marleigh’s homecoming.

The fundraiser is a beautiful and visible symbol of a community’s effort to care for one of its own. It’s a chance not just to pick up a delicious local treat, but to send a powerful message of support to a family that has shown incredible strength and resilience. Every dollar donated and every car that stops is a testament to the spirit of Terrace.

    How You Can Help

There are two ways to support Marleigh and her family:
