SMITHERS — The technical landscape of the Babine Copper-Gold Porphyry District shifted significantly today as American Eagle Gold Corp. released one of the most substantial drill results in the history of the NAK Project. The findings confirm the presence of a massive, continuous “high-grade core” that persists from the surface to extreme depths, potentially anchoring the site as a multi-generational mining asset.
A “Substantial Intercept” in the South Zone
The highlight of the technical release is Hole NAK25-78, located in the project’s Southern Zone. The hole yielded a staggering 802-metre intercept grading 0.31% copper, 0.27 g/t gold, and 1.2 g/t silver, beginning just 54 metres below the surface.
Crucially, this wide interval contains a concentrated high-grade segment that demonstrates the system’s intensity at depth:
- High-Grade Interval: 118 metres grading 0.6% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, and 2.5 g/t silver at a depth of 738 metres.
- Gold-Rich Core: A deeper 375-metre section within the hole graded 1.01% copper equivalent (CuEq), confirming that mineralization is not only broad but increasingly potent at depth.
Scaling the Discovery
The identification of this high-grade core within the South Zone is a pivotal development for the project’s future mineability. Current modeling suggests the zone covers an area of approximately 700 metres (east-west) by 500 metres (north-south), with mineralization persisting beyond 800 metres vertically.
Importantly, the boundaries of the system have not yet been defined, suggesting significant expansion potential in multiple directions. CEO Anthony Moreau noted that the consistency of these grades reinforces the view that NAK possesses the scale necessary to support “decades of large-scale operations”.
Strategic Backing and Market Confidence
The project’s perceived value is underscored by its heavy-weight corporate backing. Major global industry players hold significant stakes in American Eagle Gold:
- South32: 19.9% ownership.
- Teck Resources: 12.9% ownership.
This institutional support provides the financial stability required for an “aggressive” follow-up drill program slated for 2026, aimed at producing an initial resource assessment.
Market Snapshot (January 29, 2026):
- Share Price: 81¢ (down 2.4% from 83¢ open).
- Market Valuation: Approximately $140 million.
- Current Trend: Despite the minor daily dip, the stock remains up nearly 60% over the last three months, reflecting long-term investor confidence in the Skeena Arch’s mineral output.
