KITIMAT, B.C. – The holiday season is about to sparkle in Kitimat! The community is invited to gather for the annual “Light Up Kitimat 2025” celebration this coming Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Upper City Centre.
Organized by the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce, this year’s festivities promise fun for the entire family, centered around the spectacular moment the town’s Christmas tree comes alive.
The Main Event: Sunday Schedule Highlights
Sunday, December 7th, is packed with activities, leading up to the main event:
- Photos with Santa: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Get those cherished holiday photos with the big man in red!
- Outdoor and Indoor Vendors: 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Perfect time for some last-minute gift shopping while supporting local artisans.
- Santa’s Grand Entrance: At 4:00 PM, Santa Claus will ride the Fire Truck through the Upper City Centre.
- The Tree Light Up: The highlight of the evening is the official Tree Light Up at 4:15 PM.
Throughout the afternoon, attendees can also enjoy Carolers Sing, browse a Craft Fair, and check out the creativity on display at the School Christmas Tree Contest.
Weekend Shopping at the Christmas Mall Market
The main event caps off a full weekend of holiday shopping at the Christmas Mall Market, a crucial opportunity to shop locally for unique gifts.
The market runs for three days at the City Centre Mall (Upper City Centre, outdoors and indoor):
- Friday, Dec. 5th: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday, Dec. 6th: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday, Dec. 7th: 12:00 PM – 5:30 PM
