HAISLA NATION TERRITORY – June 3, 2025 – Haisla Nation opened its doors yesterday, June 2nd, to host a group of Business Administration students from Coast Mountain College, providing them with firsthand insights into the impacts of major industrial projects on the community.

The students, who are studying business ethics and international business, visited Haisla territory to learn more about projects such as Cedar LNG and LNG Canada, and their broader effects on local development and opportunities.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Hereditary Leader Jake Duncan. Chief Councillor Crystal Smith then delivered a presentation focusing on the Cedar LNG project, offering valuable perspectives on its development and implications for the Nation. Tony Brady, representing the Yáqʷa Development Corporation (Haisla Nation’s economic development arm), shared insights into local development initiatives and the opportunities emerging within the region.

Following the informative sessions, the students were given a tour of Kitamaat Village, which included visits to the Haisla Nation Fire Department, the Health Centre, and the Youth Centre, allowing them to see some of the community’s key facilities and services.

The Haisla Nation expressed its gratitude to everyone involved in making the educational visit a success, underscoring the importance of such engagements in fostering understanding and collaboration.
