TERRACE, B.C. – KSM Mining ULC, a subsidiary of Seabridge Gold, has been honoured with the AME David Barr Award for excellence in mineral exploration health and safety. The prestigious award recognizes the company’s leadership and innovation in establishing a collaborative approach to emergency preparedness across the remote Golden Triangle region of Northwest B.C.

KSM Mining earned the distinction for its pioneering efforts to foster cooperation among multiple companies and organizations operating within the challenging Critical Conservation Corridor. The goal is to enhance safety and ensure a unified response to emergencies.

    The Golden Triangle Coordination Model

The key initiative recognized is the Golden Triangle Emergency Response Coordination Meeting, a monthly forum launched in the fall of 2023. This forum regularly brings together emergency response and safety professionals from various resource projects and organizations operating in the region.

Rudi Fronk, Seabridge Chair and CEO, praised the effort, emphasizing its impact beyond company boundaries. “I am very proud of our team for establishing a collaborative approach to regional safety capabilities, ensuring a unified and effective response to emergencies, including supporting community emergency responses,” Fronk said. “Innovative initiatives like this help to improve our industry’s performance and enhance its standing in the community.”

The award reflects KSM’s efforts to institutionalize safety protocols, which is vital in a remote area where logistical challenges can severely complicate emergency response.

    Honouring Excellence in the Industry

The annual AME Awards celebrate significant contributions and innovation within the mineral exploration and development community. The Association for Mineral Exploration (AME) is the lead association for the industry based in British Columbia.

Todd Stone, AME President and CEO, congratulated the winners, saying, “Their passion, commitment and leadership exemplify the spirit of mineral exploration, and our community’s drive to continuously improve how we search for, discover and develop the minerals that are essential to our future.”

The AME Awards Gala – A Celebration of Excellence, where KSM Mining will formally receive the honour, is scheduled to take place on January 28, 2026, at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Seabridge Gold holds a 100% interest in the KSM and Iskut projects located in this key region of Northwest B.C.
