TERRACE, B.C. — The Terrace RCMP has launched an urgent, high-priority search for Cheyenne Boyd, a 16-year-old Indigenous youth reported missing on December 18, 2025. As the investigation enters its second day, police are deploying specialized units and a multi-platform media strategy to ensure her safe return, emphasizing that community-based intelligence is now the most critical factor in the search.
The disappearance has triggered immediate concern due to the harsh December climate and the statistical risks facing Indigenous youth in Northern B.C.. The Terrace RCMP’s Indigenous Policing Service (IPS) is currently coordinating with the Tsimshian Nation and other local First Nations to extend search efforts into traditional lands and rural areas.

    Subject Profile and Identification
Police have disseminated the following biometric details to assist the public in identifying the youth:
    Name: Cheyenne Boyd
    Age: 16 years
    Ethnicity: Indigenous
    Height: 5 ft 4 in (162 cm)
    Weight: 130 lbs (59 kg)
    Hair: Black
    Eyes: Brown

    Operational Search Framework
The Terrace RCMP is utilizing its full organizational infrastructure to manage the case. While General Duty officers handle the initial reports, several specialized sections have been activated:
Crime Reduction Unit (CRU): Monitoring urban transit hubs and known congregation points in the downtown core.
Indigenous Policing Service (IPS): Building trust and gathering sensitive information within First Nations communities.
Police Dog Section: Available for tracking in the vast, wooded terrain surrounding the city.
Victim Services: Providing direct emotional support to the Boyd family during the investigation.

    Geographic and Environmental Risks
The search area is vast, covering thousands of square kilometers across the Skeena Valley and the Highway 16 (Yellowhead) corridor. Environmental factors are a major concern; with temperatures hovering around 2°C and recent snowfall in the region, the window for safe recovery is narrowing.
The RCMP is mindful of the extreme dangers posed by local geography, such as the Skeena River, which has historically impeded even the most advanced search efforts in the region.

    Community Appeal
The RCMP is saturating regional media, including CFNR (Northern Native Broadcasting) and CFTK-TV, to trigger an immediate sighting. Residents are urged to be vigilant, particularly along the highway arteries connecting Terrace to Prince Rupert and Smithers.
Anyone with information is requested to contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted through Northern BC Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where information leading to a resolution may be eligible for a cash reward.
