TERRACE, B.C. — The 2025 Riverboat Days celebrations officially began Friday evening with an opening ceremony at George Little Park, bringing together community members, cultural performers, and dignitaries to mark the start of one of Terrace’s most cherished annual events.
The ceremony was hosted by TheChad from CFNR Radio and featured performances from the Caledonia Kermode Choir, the Terrace Filipino‑Canadian Association, the Indo‑Canadian Cultural Group, and a powerful finale by the Gitxaała Nation Drum and Dance Group.
The event also honoured renowned artist Stan Bevan, who was named the 2025 Riverboat Days Ambassador.
MP, Ellis Ross, looked sharp in his attire and delivered a light‑hearted message focused on wishing residents a Happy Riverboat Days and a great long weekend.
MLA,Claire Ratte, used her time to highlight Northern B.C. rights and pressing regional issues, emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy for the region.
The official opening was declared by City of Terrace Acting Mayor Inderpal Dhillon, a current Terrace City Councillor, who stepped in for Mayor Sean Bujtas, acknowledging him as the “voice of Terrace” and noting that Bujtas could not attend due to an emergency.
As the ceremony concluded, families and friends lingered, soaking in the community spirit that has defined the festival for over 30 years. All eyes now turn to the weekend’s events, with anticipation building for the parade, live entertainment, and family activities that will animate the city.
