TERRACE, B.C. – The 2025 Terrace Rotary Club Duck Race, a highly anticipated Riverboat Days tradition, saw a full field of rubber ducks dropped into the Skeena River, with one duck in particular securing a life-changing prize for its ticket holder.
On August 4, a massive wave of yellow plastic ducks was released into the river from the new bridges. After a brisk race, one duck, belonging to Pat Holland, emerged victorious, crossing the finish line to claim the $25,000 grand prize.
This year’s event was a major success for the Rotary Club, with tickets selling out just before the race began. The duck race is a key fundraiser for the club, with all proceeds going to support various community projects in and around Terrace. In previous years, these funds have contributed to projects like the splash park at George Little Park and upgrades to the playground at Ferry Island.
Additional Winners
While Holland took home the top prize, other winners also celebrated their success:
- Second Place: Ross Parnell won a half-hour ride with Canadian Helicopters.
- Third Place: Codie Long received a $500 gift card to Safeway.
- Fourth Place: Paul Wilkinson was awarded a $500 gift card to Canadian Tire.
The annual race continues to be a popular and fun-filled way for residents to support local initiatives while also having a chance to win big.
