TERRACE, B.C. – Terrace is gearing up for a full day of family-friendly festivities and fireworks to celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1, with most of the action centered in and around George Little Park.

Here’s what you need to know to plan your day:

    Daytime Celebrations at George Little Park (12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

The main celebration, organized by the City of Terrace’s Parks and Recreation department, kicks off at noon. Residents are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of community fun. The event will feature:

    • Live Music: A lineup of local bands and musicians will be performing at the George Little Park gazebo.
    • Family Activities: Look for bouncy castles, face painting, and other games and activities for children.
    • Food Vendors: A variety of local food trucks will be on-site throughout the afternoon.
    • Canada Day Cake: A traditional cake-cutting ceremony will take place mid-afternoon.

    Evening Fireworks Display (11:00 p.m.)

The day will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks display.

    • Time: The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 11:00 p.m.
    • Location: The display will be launched from the usual location near the Old Bridge, offering great viewing opportunities from George Little Park and the surrounding area.

    Road Closures and Information

To accommodate the festivities, several road closures will be in effect on July 1:

    • Eby Street: The section of Eby Street directly adjacent to George Little Park will be closed to vehicle traffic for most of the day.
    • Park Avenue: Expect partial closures and managed access on Park Avenue near the park.
    • Please note that there is no official Canada Day parade scheduled in Terrace this year.

Residents are encouraged to walk or bike to the park if possible and to celebrate responsibly.
