TERRACE, B.C. – The Terrace Community Forest (TCF), a company owned by the City of Terrace, has made its annual contribution of $1 million to the City. The funds were generated from the TCF’s 2024 commercial thinning forest harvesting program.
As per the TCF’s mandate, the City will direct the money towards outdoor recreation and art projects within the community.
Recent projects that have been partly or fully funded by TCF contributions include an electric Zamboni, new pickleball courts on Halliwell Avenue, benches at Ferry Island, and a salmon sculpture and toad mural on Ferry Island. Currently, a project is in progress to install new art at Skeenaview Point.
To date, the Terrace Community Forest has allocated a total of $6 million to various community projects and has created approximately $37 million in direct community employment.
In a photo marking the presentation, TCF Board members presented the $1 million cheque to several City Councillors.
