TERRACE, B.C. – The Terrace Fire Department welcomed a new, enthusiastic—and temporary—addition to its leadership ranks this week. Young Chloe took charge as “Chief for a Day 2025,” showcasing commitment and curiosity that delighted the entire crew of the Terrace Professional Firefighters Local 2685.
The annual “Chief for a Day” event is a special tradition where the department partners with the community to teach children about the importance of fire safety and public service. Chief Chloe’s day on the job was packed with important duties. She toured the facility, checked the trucks and the equipment, and even delivered a fire safety message to her classmates. Her key message was a vital one: encouraging everyone to talk with their families about muster points in case of an emergency.
Terrace Fire Chief Joel Brousson was thrilled with the young leader’s performance. “Chloe was a pleasure to work with—engaged, enthusiastic, and full of great questions,” Chief Brousson said. “She taught the team a thing or two, and her actions made a difference.”
He added that Chloe’s energetic approach proved the program’s value. “It was a true pleasure having her with us, and we thank Chloe for making the day such a memorable one!”
The Terrace Professional Firefighters, Local 2685, who host the program, show their ongoing commitment to community engagement and safety education through events like this, ensuring the next generation understands and values the vital role of first responders.
