TERRACE, B.C. – The smell of fresh pancakes and the buzz of community spirit filled the air at the Terrace Fire Hall on Canada Day, as hundreds of residents gathered for the annual Firefighters’ Pancake Breakfast, raising an incredible $8,000for a vital provincial charity.
From 8 a.m. until 11 a.m., a steady stream of families, seniors, and children lined up to kick off their holiday with a classic breakfast of pancakes, sausages, and eggs, all served up by members of the Terrace Professional Firefighters Local 2685. The event was more than just a meal; it was a powerful display of Terrace’s community spirit.
Showing their support alongside their neighbours were several local leaders, including Mayor Sean Bujtas, and City Councillors Brian Downie, Dave Gordon, Chris Apps, and Inder Dhillon. Their presence underscored the importance of the event as a cornerstone of Terrace’s Canada Day celebrations.
All proceeds from the breakfast go directly to the BC Professional Firefighters’ Burn Fund, a charity that provides essential support and recovery programs for burn survivors and their families across British Columbia. The annual fundraiser began years ago to help a local Terrace family, and its overwhelming success transformed it into the beloved tradition it is today.
In a statement following the event, the Terrace Firefighters expressed their profound gratitude.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our Pancake Breakfast,” the message said. “Your generosity helps burn survivors and their families across BC, and it means so much to us to see our community come together for this cause. We are proud to serve this community.”
The firefighters also extended their sincere thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers, and community organizations who helped make the morning possible, proving once again that the heart of Canada Day in Terrace beats strongest when the community comes together to support a great cause.
