TERRACE, B.C. – The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 has donated $11,600 to the Dr. R.E.M. Lee Hospital Foundation in support of its “Lift Up Our Elders” project at Terraceview Lodge.
The funds were raised through the Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign and will fully cover the cost of one gantry ceiling lift and motor for a resident’s room. These specialized lifts are essential for safely moving patients with limited mobility, helping to prevent injuries for both residents and caregivers.
With this latest contribution, the Foundation has now funded 28 lifts, leaving 15 still needed to equip every long-term care resident room at the facility.
Foundation Executive Director Roopy Kopec highlighted the significance of the donation, stating, “This donation is not only a tribute to the sacrifices of the past but an investment in the well-being of our elders today.”
The donation was formally presented by Legion Branch 13 President David Ross and Mary Ann Misfelt, along with members of the Hospital Foundation. The Dr. R.E.M. Lee Hospital Foundation is a volunteer-run organization that has been fundraising since 1988 to enhance medical and health care services in the Terrace area.
