TERRACE, B.C. – Getting around town just got easier for seniors in Terrace, thanks to a new van service officially launched by Volunteer Terrace this past Friday.
The non-profit organization unveiled a brand-new, 10-seater van dedicated to providing transportation for elderly residents who are no longer able to drive. The service is aimed at helping seniors get to essential destinations like medical appointments and grocery stores, as well as community events, in an effort to reduce isolation and help them stay engaged.
“Transportation can be a major barrier for many older adults,” Volunteer Terrace’s executive director said in a statement. “This van will make a real difference in their day-to-day lives—allowing them to remain independent and engaged.”
The purchase of the van was made possible through the financial support of two major charitable foundations: the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation and United Way BC. Volunteer Terrace extended its thanks to both organizations for their critical role in getting the project on the road.
Seniors or their caregivers who are interested in learning more about the new transportation service or who wish to book a ride are encouraged to contact Volunteer Terrace directly for details on scheduling and availability.
